For Spring-Summer 2025, BARRIE looks to a feeling of carefree nonchalance and a certain nostalgic charm, celebrating the happy moments of the British and Scottish summer – a trip to the seaside, a game of golf, a family picnic, or a walk in the country. Colours reflect the sun-kissed tones of the summer months and the classic shades of the outdoor wardrobe. Comfort and style align to create BARRIE’s signature silhouette, complete with the now iconic trompe-l’œil designs – classic pieces reinvented using the house’s cashmere savoir-faire.

In a playful nod to Scotland’s capricious weather, this season’s trompe-l’œil focus includes the Balmacaan coat, worked in a generous, timeless shape and featuring a charming, checked cashmere cotton lining. It makes the perfect partner for a series of nautical-inspired pieces with bold, rippled knit stripes. Another charming extension of the trompe-l’œil family is the Hawick shirt series, reinventing the classic Oxford stripe in a selection of widths and fits, with matching shorts for a relaxed, boyish silhouette in a cool, cotton/cashmere mix. Texture is another seasonal focus, with the Scottish cross and heritage tweed providing the inspirations for chunky, open-knit separates.

A romantic retro feel infuses the silhouettes, from the adorable Overlay Illusion range suggesting layered pieces knitted in a single charming garment – paired with a flared trouser – to a range of ringer tees and striped B Logo patch designs. The summer months are also a time to relax, whether in a deliciously soft and light set of elevated pajamas in a cashmere-silk mix, or in one of the house’s now iconic Denim pieces, offered a variety of seasonal options, including a blue pinstripe and two-tone pieces in beige and red schemes, giving the impression of a garment left out in the sun. A new fringed Denim waistcoat and shorter mini are available in a seasonal khaki shade. This work on colour is another BARRIE trademark, showcased here in the 5 Needles range, which displays an irregular stripe randomly created by the knitting machine, making each piece entirely unique.
