Fall-Winter 2024 Collection

Barrie’s winter story is one of comfort and excitement: the thrill of finding a perfect timeless piece, the joy of mixing it with other favourite garments, and the sense of satisfaction when facing the elements armed with a warm, stylish uniform.
Decades and influences combine to create an eclectic attitude, echoing the personal style of a well-heeled music fan, returning to her family home in Scotland after a successful shopping trip to the British capital, mixing her latest finds with much-loved pieces borrowed from a timeless outdoor wardrobe.
The resulting silhouette references a style which is uniquely Barrie, with its charming library of prints and motifs, and playful reinvention of classic pieces through trademark trompe-l’œil effects – a house signature since 2019 and the now-iconic
Denim jacket.

This season’s heritage-inspired trompe-l’œil pieces are a stand-out example of Barrie’s technical bravura, including a duo of suede-effect separates – a matching jacket and long skirt – worked in a double-sided chenille knit for a truly astonishing faux effect.
Equally surprising is the
bomber jacket , featuring every requisite detail from the zip and side pockets to the satin lining.

A traditional Oxford pinstripe shirt is worked in a cashmere cotton mix and adorable pastel shades, complete with matching shorts, while the quintessential Denim range is worked in the season’s palette.
Other timeless favourites, as if salvaged from a much-loved family closet, are reworked in Barrie’s trademark cashmere, from a cosy, buttoned,
fishing cape to a generous version of the quintessential Aran sweater or cardigan .

This reinvention of classic style is also evident in the Ribbon range , inspired by rare archive Barrie pieces discovered by Augustin Dol-Maillot, the House’s artistic director. The charming grosgrain-trimmed sweater, long and short cardigans are worked in highest quality 100% lambswool and feature a re-edition of vintage drop-shaped golden buttons, reflecting a part of Barrie’s own history. Indeed, from the 1950s onwards, the house manufactured a small percentage of lambswool pieces, produced to the same high standards of quality and durability as its cashmere garments.
