This Summer, Barrie finds inspiration in wildlife – the Scottish outdoors, of course, but also wild life in two words, looking to the beauty and power of nature at its finest. From poetic reproductions to abstract representations, this is a collection full of graphic details and surprises, splashed across a refined palette and light, airy signature knits created to suit the balmy seasonal weather.

A graphic interpretation of a summer bouquet is emblazoned across a t-shirt or V-neck design in bold shades while twelve-gauge knits feature charming mini roses or thistles. There’s a similar lightness in the pastel shades of the flowers and stars peeping through the stitches of a “darned” sweater with a new lace-up V-neck. The flowers of the field bloom into full size as impressionistic details across the front of a sweater and the shoulders of a two-tone cardigan.
The Loch, another quintessential feature of the Scottish landscape, is the visual inspiration for a chunky cotton and cashmere cardigan featuring a mix of stitches. The pink and blue colour schemes echo the reflections on the surface of the lake at different moments of the day.

The colours and skies of the region are also evident in the more abstract motifs of the collection, such as the Heart Sunset theme , with its vibrant colour gradients and float stitches worked in a more poetic, craft-influenced version and the Flag Sunset , motif, a smaller check inspired by the saltire cross.
The Denim range now offers a sleeveless jacket and wider, cargo-style pant , both available in the new pale denim colour scheme, and goes Western with a sparkling series of ornamented pieces, featuring diamanté details of Barrie trademarks including the thistle and rose across the collar, pockets and shoulders of both classic and sleeveless denim jackets.

The Python Argyll theme creates a link between the geometric stitches of the traditional Scottish sweaters and an abstract interpretation of the snakeskin motif. This is Barrie savoir-faire at its finest, an ingenious combination of stitches and colours to create an iconic style, knitted in both fine and heavier gauges.
